Eplus appoints Valentin Radu in the position of CEO to accelerate the company’s development
Bucharest, 10 November 2021 – Eplus Smart Energy, a Romanian entrepreneurial group active in the energy sector specialized in the development, provision, and implementation of energy efficiency services and solutions, announces the appointment of Valentin Radu, an executive with over 25 years of professional experience in various management positions as CEO of the group.

Valentin Radu has held the position of CEO of Tiriac Holdings and Autorom, Daimler importer in Romania, throughout his career. Since 2008, he has been the founder and Managing Partner of Platinum Capital, a company focused on significant investments and consulting services. Between 2018 and April 2021, Valentin Radu was an independent non-executive member of the Board of Directors of Electrica S.A. Between December 2018 and July 2020, he also held the position of the Chairman of the Board of Directors. Starting with November 1, 2021, Valentin Radu took over the role of CEO of the Eplus group. He will coordinate the company’s development and increase the group’s market share in Romania by expanding the client portfolio.
Eplus was founded in 2013 under the name MSC Operational S.A. and was transformed into a group in 2020, following the acquisition of two other companies active in the energy field. The companies within the group provide services for monitoring, processing, and collection of field data, control, verification of the quality and conformity of the activities of reading gas meters and electric meters, implementation of intelligent metering, metrological verification of meters, management of measurement groups and automation services and digitalization of industrial processes.
Starting with 2017, Eplus expanded its team by setting up the sales division. In 2018, the company grew substantially by taking over the reading services of electricity and gas meters, along with the operation and processing of data collected from the field for a number of 1.5 million electricity customers in the area of Moldova and about 2 million gas customers in the northern part of the country, from Timisoara to Iasi. With the development of this activity, the company inaugurated in Craiova a modern centre for operation and analysis of data collected from the field. The centre consists of over 30 analysts and operators and aims to operate extensively as a call centre.
Pursuing the objective of expanding the business, in 2020, Eplus developed its business of metrological verifications of electricity meters through an investment of approximately 1 million lei in a high-performance laboratory with modern technology and highly qualified human resources, obtaining the required authorizations and certifications of this specialized service. Also, in 2020, it has developed automation and digitalization services for energy and industrial processes. In the same year, the company entered the market of smart meter installations, representing the future technology and the basis for faster adoption of advanced technologies for the entire Romanian energy industry.
In the first six months of 2021, the Eplus group recorded a consolidated turnover of 43 million lei, up 93% compared to the first six months of 2020, and a net profit of 3.1 million lei, an increase of 142% compared to the same period last year. Of the company’s revenues, approximately 50% came from reading meters and collecting data from the field, 29% from the services of administration of measurement groups, 15% from the services of implementation of intelligent metering systems. The rest of the revenues were supplemented by metrological verification and process automation services.
For the entire year 2021, the Eplus group estimates a turnover of 80 million lei, increasing by 34% compared to 2020, based on ongoing projects and contracts.
